5 Steps for Discovering Your Purpose
You probably have heard many explanations on what it takes to discover your life’s purpose. I am not here to tell you that any of what you’ve heard is right or wrong. It is my goal to ensure that you leave this post feeling inspired and open to the possibilities of what you have been called to do. Discovering your purpose begins with the awareness of the spark that’s ignited within you every time you begin a new journey. Let’s take a deeper look into how you can discover your purpose.
Step 1: Become Aware of the thing that you are most passionate about. There is something that you love to do, and maybe because of everyday challenges or daily activities you have a tendency to push it to the side or put it off for later. Whenever there is an opportunity that presents itself for you to operate in that role you jump at it, because it excites you. What is the one thing that you love to do but haven’t devoted any time into pursuing it because of life’s challenges?
Step 2: Perform a self image check by asking yourself empowering questions. There is a force within you that’s concerned about your well-being and wants the best for you. You have to understand that what you do in life is always connected to you operating at the fullness of who you are. The greatest heroes of our time have acknowledge that until they dealt with themselves their lives never changed. What do you think of yourself? Many people would consider this question to be one that’s not even important because immediately their outward response would be connected to vanity or responses that sound good but the true answer to this question lies within and can only be answered by becoming aware of the thoughts that will come to your mind once you ask yourself the question. You may be surprised to learn that your confidence and self image isn’t what you thought it is could be the very factor that’s hindering your progression to the next level in your life or business. When asking the empowering questions make sure that you ask them in a way that the God force within you has to answer them and be attentive to those thoughts/answers so you’ll know what’s going on.
Step 3: Passion trumps duty every time. Responsibilities is something that we will never be able to escape, and many of you reading this have placed responsibilities ahead of the thing that fills you with the most joy. I am not telling you to quit your corporate job today, but what I am telling you is to have faith and trust in yourself. What would you do if you discovered that you only had 30 days to live. I am sure you would go out and do all the things that you hoped to do before discovering your life expectancy would be cut short. This is how you should approach life. The things that you probably considered doing the people that you considered helping after reading that last question is where you should put your focus now. Passion continues to fuel you even after any burnt out feelings you may have because of doing what you feel obligated to do.
Step 4: Who am I doing this for is the most important thing to consider. Your purpose will always serve others and it will create a lasting effect and serve other generations long after your physical has left the earth. When you consider who you’re doing it for it energizes you into another dimension and catapults you into taking consistent action. You feel empowered because you’re able to give the world something that it’s been missing. There is a selflessness in discovering your purpose.
Step 5: There is no compromise of your integrity or your mind. You won’t allow anyone to try and deter you from what it is that you want to see come to life. True fulfillment and peace comes from discovering your purpose. If you find yourself not feeling confident and happy about the decisions that you’re making you’re on the wrong path. Discovering your purpose is free flowing and consistent. New ideas spring forth and each day there’s progress towards reaching that goal that you desire.
